Salute to Our Members of 40+ Years

Join us for a special luncheon as we recognize and celebrate the members whose dedication, leadership, and support have helped shape the Kitsap Building Association and our local building industry for more than four decades.

This year's program will honor our 40+ Year Members and feature a special panel discussion with several of our Past KBA Presidents. These industry leaders helped guide the association through changing markets, evolving regulations, economic ups and downs, and decades of growth in Kitsap County. Hear their stories, insights, and perspectives on how the industry—and the association—have changed over the years.

We'll also revisit one of the most remarkable chapters in KBA history: the legendary 8-Hour Wonder House. In 1983, hundreds of volunteers came together to build a complete, move-in-ready home in just 7 hours, 56 minutes, and 32 seconds—a feat that remains one of the most celebrated examples of teamwork and community spirit in our association's history.

We're honored to welcome Andy Mitchell of Mitchell Lumber Company, whose family was the first to live in the Wonder House. Andy will share a few memories of growing up in the home and reflect on the changes he has witnessed in the building industry throughout his family's long history in business. Mitchell Lumber Company has been a proud KBA member since the 1980s and continues to represent the values of service, quality, and commitment that define our association.

Whether you've been a member for 40 years or 40 days, this luncheon is an opportunity to celebrate the people, partnerships, and volunteer spirit that built our association. Join us as we honor our long-standing members, recognize the leadership of our Past Presidents, and reflect on the stories that continue to inspire the future of housing in Kitsap County.

Because while buildings may stand the test of time, it is the people behind them who create a lasting legacy.
