Position: Construction Foreman
Location: Kitsap County, WA
Employment Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: $64,875 to $73,008 a year
Compensation: Competitive wage + benefits + retirement WA DRS pension + 457b retirement plan + 13 paid holidays per year + 8 hours accrual leave per month for both sick and annual

What You’ll Do:

  • Follow and enforce the Building Group Membership and Labor Agreement guidelines.
  • Mentor and guide self-help housing participants during the building process
  • Foster teamwork to show the importance of each Member’s role within the decision-making process and success of the group.
  • Write tasks to be completed with time frames and responsible person for completing tasks.
  • Treat each member fairly and be consistent with your actions and activities.
Site Responsibilities
  • Maintain job site safety and compliance with codes and regulations
  • Coordinate site activities.
  • Prepare building permits.
  • Prepare budgets for material and subcontractor purchases.
  • Maintain tool and equipment inventory.
  • Take proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents.
  • Coordinate and oversee the timely and successful completion of subcontractor efforts, which includes specifications, timelines, and performance clauses.
  • Maintain appropriate communications with subcontractors to answer questions and resolve problems. Negotiate contract modifications.
  • Promote cost-effective use of the organization’s resources. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality standards.
Purchasing and Inventory Control
  • Inventory and determine supply and equipment needs on a timely and consistent basis.
  • Check deliveries against POs’ to assure they meet specifications, quantity, and quality.
  • Monitor invoices to assure proper payment.
  • Work with Rural development during their site visits and for general inquiries.

 What We Are Looking For:

  • Proven experience in residential construction and leadership
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
  • Must be adept at handling multiple tasks and responsibilities; have the ability to effectively change priorities quickly and to work cooperatively and proactively with department members to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, specification sheets, and materials associated with residential house construction.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams, including first-time home builders
  • Commitment to community-focused work
  • Five years in the trades, One Year as a job site supervisor is desirable.
  • Possession of a valid Washington State driver's license throughout employment with a fully insurable driving record and current auto insurance.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • High School diploma or GED required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Higher level of education with emphasis on vocational skills such as carpentry, drafting, or mechanics.
  • Specialized training
